Little O' This

Red

Do you recall my pondering the possibility of farming chickens so I could be assured that my meat was ethically raised and humanely slaughtered? But I wasn’t sure if I could handle the whole killing and plucking and gutting aspect of the process? Well, I think we’ve found a solution: make the kid do it.

She seemed to get right into it and was only mildly traumatized.

Kidding. It’s paint, you crazies. We had a fun afternoon with some friends letting a one, two and three year-old have their way with some (washable) paints on the grass. After they got tired of painting on their canvasses, they moved onto the log pile and it looked like we were running a hippie commune with our half-naked children prancing around the yard, beautifying nature.

This is really the first “craft” time I’ve ever done with Avelyn and she loved it. She’s still a little young for most things, like beading macaroni necklaces and making caterpillars out of egg cartons, but I guess you’re never too young to love making a riotous mess.

  • did it really all “wash” out?!?

is the painted log on display at your house?

  • Love it! I love watching kids with wild abandon and craft supplies, not so much cleaning up after them, but the making of the mess is always fun.

  • I think there is nothing wrong with having your child earn her keep. I mean, you’ll have TWO to pay for soon, right ;)

  • Awesome. We love gettin’ filthy over here.

  • Hahahaha! I love these pictures and the other ones that you sent! I washed my clothes and it DID all wash out. When I look at the photos with all of the kids it really does look like some kind of naked hippie-kid art commune!

  • brilliant! lovin’ the artistic outlet!

  • I love it!!! She’s a true artist!

  • OMG Amanda. You had me for a second. Silly girl, you.

  • that’s a great idea. She had a blast and you didn’t have too much of a mess to clean. By the way, glitter…always outside!!

  • You’re hilarious. That looked a little too much like chicken blood splattered all over Avelyn. ;)

I’m glad you followed through with your idea and had a little paint-fest outside. Looks like great fun was had!

  • Sparks are looking for a crafts co-ordinator – wanna sign up? Can you imagine? “Craft time” has come a long way since I was a kid!

  • Avelyn is adorable. What fun!

  • LOL! For a moment I was like, “Whoa…that’s awesome/frightening/traumatizing!”

    Hehe.

    Had that kid yet?

  • Wow!! Nice start! Just enough to freak people out and then … HA! Just kiddin! :) Seriously cute pic of her all painted.

  • That’s hilarious, & somehow I could see Avelyn getting into the chicken “decap” thingy! Or not.

  • Hahaha … too funny! Avelyn looks cute in red.

  • Hm… just to be the annoying “new” person to your blog, I tagged you for a meme. I don’t know what “meme” means anyway, but I tagged you for one. Check out my blog for the details. :)

  • I’m a little sleep deprived and you almost had me on the chicken blood thing…

Thanks for coming by my blog today! Your family looks like a lot of fun!

  • The term Vintage in the guitar category, applies to guitars from the mid 1920’s to 1970. Guitar’s made before the mid 1920’s are judged as being too primitive in their design and therefore are not valued by collectors. At the other end of the spectrum, guitars made after 1970 – even though they are nearly 40 years old in some cases, do not have collectible appeal, mainly because of the state of the US guitar manufacturing industry during the 1970’s which saw a drop in the quality of finished products.
