Family Matters, Little O' This

End of June Recap

Took the kids to the dentist and all three have cavities. #whoevencares

Have been reading The Bright Hour and it’s just destroying me, but in the best way.

I got my hair done again and felt like a queen. Been to Pomme Salon in Kelowna and Nicole (photo by her below) is a gifted colourist and stylist. I’ve been hoping to achieve an overall slightly lower maintenance colour where the roots can be a bit smudgy and grow out a bit. Nice to have to only go to the salon ever 2-3 months instead of every four weeks.

Hair

Speaking of hair, I thought I didn’t have any grey hair. But then I let my roots grow out a bit and I was like, “What be these flecks of silver?” and it turns out that yep, I’m going grey. Hold me. (I preferred denial.)

I turn 36 this summer. I feel old and young at the same time. Like, sometimes I feel like I have accomplished a fair bit for my age but I am also FEELING said age. I’m tired, and iron-deficient and prone to back injury.

While I folded approx 67 loads of laundry today I watched a wonderful film called “Hello, My Name is Doris” and I think you should watch it too. Thanks, Netflix.

Also, if you watched the Royal Wedding (old news, I know) and haven’t seen this, then you’re missing out. HILARIOUS.

This is accurate about how the last few weeks of the school year are going:

I just can’t keep it together. And yet, I know, that after about three days of summer holidays I’m going to be like, “We were not made to be together for this much time during the day! What is even happening?!”

I am feeling like the window on our family opportunities is closing way too fast. Avelyn is going to be 12 years old this summer and will shortly be way more excited about hanging out with her friends than with us. I feel like we need to just go travel the world for the next three years and make a million memories before she’s graduated and probably getting married at age 19 like a crazy kid with an underdeveloped frontal lobe. STOP THE TRAIN! I want to get OFF!

That’s all I got. Have a great weekend!
