Family Matters, Friends Are Swell

It Takes a Village

Last year we bawled our eyes out when my dear friend, Krista, and her family moved to Salt Spring Island. Their family has been such an amazing source of friendship, joy, connection, and memories over the years and I am thankful we have been able to keep in good touch despite the distance.

If you’ve spent any amount of time with Krista, or her husband, Ryan, you know that they have big hearts. Hearts that want to help heal the pain they see in the world. And for as long as I have known them, they have had the dream and desire to add to their family through adoption. It has been a long road for them, but there is a little baby somewhere, that they are preparing to meet this August! So exciting. The path of adoption can be arduous, and costly, and their family has been saving up for this moment for years, but there have been some additional costs that have surfaced and we want to do all we can to help welcome this new life into their home and help ease the financial burden.

Krista had the amazing idea to have a local artist on Salt Spring Island design a super cool graphic, printed on ethically made t-shirts and tanks, that you can purchase as a fundraiser. They are really cool, and not nerdy or weird. Look!

The logo reads “It Takes a Village” which I think we all know is beyond true. I am thankful for the village they have been to me and now we get to come alongside them and be theirs.

If you want to help support this wonderful family and buy some shirts, our friend Carolyn is the go-to person in charge or managing the order. Adult shirts are $30, kids shirts are $25 and baby onesies (so cute!) are $20. Carolyn has all the info on sizing and colours and styles. My kids love the shirts and have been wearing them multiple times a week.

Please contact Carolyn at cairli@msn.com or text or call her at 250-490-6812

Let’s show some love for this amazing family as they welcome their new addition!
