Little O' This

Autumnal Reflections

Summer is officially behind us. We did it!

Now it’s back to homework and extra-curricular scheduling and apple harvest and all things fall. Have I had a pumpkin spice latte? Yes, I have. But not from Starbucks…our local coffee shops makes a way better one with WHOLE MILK and a syrup that doesn’t taste like chemicals. I spent the morning chopping approx 47 pounds of veggies to make this homemade soup. It’s a labour of love, but worth it. And, as per usual, I made a sextuple batch. It makes up for how we had A&W three times last week (Beyond Meat burgers were on sale for $3.99! I HAD TO!).

The girls are all adjusting to their new classes. Avelyn is in Grade 8, Karenna just started middle school and this is Brin’s first year at her elementary school without any big sisters there with her. It’s up to her and her alone to carry the Brown Girl torch, and I think she’s ready.

Fall fashion always gets me excited but I seem to be veering into a new direction when it comes to my clothes. I spent years only wearing certain styles and they “worked with body” (aka: accentuated my waist and hid my hips and thighs) but as I get older, I find myself being more drawn to…well, whatever the heck I feel like wearing. I want to be comfortable, to feel good in my skin. And my favourite purchase of this season has been this jacket/sweater/cardigan/robe/housecoat that I have worn pretty much every day since I bought it. I didn’t realize I was taking my fashion cues from Mary-Kate Olsen circa 2007, but I’m just saying: I think she was on to something.

Other Things of Note:

I can’t wait to start The Testaments.

Any other good book recommendations? I have an Audible membership and find it hard to keep up with my listening, on top of all the podcasts I like, too. Life is hard.

I start an adult beginner’s dance class tonight. Because, why not?

I’m not drinking any alcohol this month, and it’s been going ok. Instead of a glass of wine in the evening, I just eat a tray of brownies.

Anyways, I hope your fall is off to a great start!
