Away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a reason we travel so rarely.\u00c2\u00a0 Actually, there are two and their names are Avelyn and Jolie.\u00c2\u00a0 We made the five hour drive to Vancouver this past weekend to celebrate Steve&#8217;s mom&#8217;s 60th birthday and even though the ride was almost shockingly civilized (thanks to an electronic fart machine keychain-I&#8217;m not even kidding- and our portable DVD player) the rest of the weekend was exhausting.\u00c2\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get me wrong, it was fun.\u00c2\u00a0 Just a very tiring version of fun that involved hauling around 8 tons of gear and junk for the kids and dealing with night-time wakings (by both girls) and the insane traffic of the big city that made the kids go nuts.<\/p>\n<p>We had a great birthday party on Friday night and Steve&#8217;s mom was beaming:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/phphbt7bxpm.jpg\" title=\"phphbt7bxpm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/phphbt7bxpm.jpg\" alt=\"phphbt7bxpm.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next day we went to the aquarium and that was a hit.\u00c2\u00a0 Avelyn was filled with such wonder and excitement over all the marine life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/kaile.jpg\" title=\"kaile.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/kaile.jpg\" alt=\"kaile.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/beluga.jpg\" title=\"beluga.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/beluga.jpg\" alt=\"beluga.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jolie was a tad tougher to impress.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/bjorn.jpg\" title=\"bjorn.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/bjorn.jpg\" alt=\"bjorn.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There was some movie watching, some Starbucks consumption, and some bath-time tea parties at Nana&#8217;s house.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/phpcygu8spm.jpg\" title=\"phpcygu8spm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/phpcygu8spm.jpg\" alt=\"phpcygu8spm.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was so nice to spend time with family, as a family.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/fam.jpg\" title=\"fam.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/kickyboots.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/fam.jpg\" alt=\"fam.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I just don&#8217;t think we&#8217;ll be road-tripping it with the kids again for a while.<\/p>\n<p><a
