I just found this old photo from the winter on Steve’s phone and I love it so hard: Avelyn’s closed eyes and toothless grin, Karenna’s wild smile and Brinley’s stubby arms stretched overhead.
I know way too many young moms whose lives have been cut short by cancer.
“I’m going to play ‘Mommy,’” she declared. Then she asked me to curl her hair just like I do mine.
Then she asked for some lipstick. Then she asked for some money to go and buy a coffee.
Brinley has been giving up her afternoon nap. Slowly but surely, she sleeps less and less with each passing month and it’s kind of sad.
Well, they didn’t actually walk into a bar, but they did go trick-or-treating and got so hopped up on chocolate and high fructose corn syrup that they are still kind of buzzing.
Karenna’s fourth birthday party was held at a horse ranch in town. I wrote about it here, and this is one of my favourite photos of the evening.
