My Girl, Rolo The Wonder Pooch

Homecoming and Peace Making

This is the outfit that I brought to the hopsital in the hopes of taking Avelyn home wearing it.  When I tried to slip it onto her tiny, newborn frame I realized it was a tich too big.  Meaning, her entire body could have fit in one of the pant legs.  So, the outift sat in her dresser for a month and she is just now starting to fill it out.  Steve thinks the pants are still ridiculously huge and he says she looks like MC Hammer in them.  But I don’t care!  They are bloomers.  Bloomer are supposed to be baggy.  Really baggy.

Rolo has recently come to grips with the fact that Avelyn is here to stay.  For the first few weeks he was distant and mopey and refused to wag his tail when I called his name.  He was miffed that he was no longer the baby of the family and that this squawking, pooping, attention-hogging creature was taking up all of our time and affection.  Now Rolo just wants to lick Avelyn.  All the time.
And he is making eye contact with me again so I think he’s getting over the betrayal.

  • That first picture is AWESOME!

  • Those bloomers sure are blooming! It is an adorable picture. Yay for the dog and the babe getting along. It’s so sad when it doesn’t happen and the dog has to go. So hard for the parents. I’m so happy he’s looking at you again!

  • Cory had to go to the store to get sleepers that would fit Duncan when we were in the hospital. However, the ones I had brought that were ridiculously big are now too small – they grow so fast at this age that it’s better to put them in clothes that are too big than to miss the chance of them wearing the outfit at all!

  • Avelyn is so lucky to have her own buddyguard- Rolo! They’ll grow to be great friends… what a hunny, your little one! :)

  • Avelyn looks adorable…big baggy pants and all.

  • that is the most adorable outfit i have ever seen.
so sweet that rolo wants to kiss her. i think its good for babies/kids to grow up with a dog.

  • Amanda,

Words cannot express the feeling I have when I see your little bundle on that couch! She is a beauty all right. On Sunday, it was a strange feeling to look out and see a few friends that I haven’t spent enough time with (if at all) this summer. It is the cost of ministry, BUT it saddened me all the same. I will be here next week, then off to Ontario… then back at the end of Sept.

I love that you blog so I can “feel” kept in touch with your life and your precious baby Avelyn! and her adventures in making your life (and body) interesting. Just so you know, I enjoy your posts and your site. I hope you enjoy mine too… what has the world come to when we commmunicate and keep in touch through web sites!

    AHHH! Love, Mel

  • P.S.!!! I’ve been known to buy spanx too. A gospel singer can’t be caught w/o ’em – I mean, who wants to see the underwear line et al during a solo! :) PTL for Spanx so we can keep the focus on Him!

  • MC Hammer! That is the exact description we used when we put Anders’ pants on at the hospital!! HA! :D

  • I love that top picture of her. What a sweetie. :)

  • It’s been awhile since I have posted a comment, but I have been hear silently reading your every word. Avelyn is just beautiful, and you are such a beautiful and funny mom. Miss you, we should get together some time.
