Little O' This, My Girl

Dis ‘n’ Dat

The other day I was running behind on laundry (who am I kidding? I am perpetually behind on laundry) so when I went to dress Avelyn for the day, it was slim pickin’s in her closet. All her cute little fitted jeans and sweaters were soiled and growing mold in the basement so I dug out a funny little ensemble: a yellow golf shirt, oversized baggy jeans and a corduroy pea coat. She looked like a really cute little boy.

There’s nothing wrong with some misplaced masculinity from time to time.

Not too much else has been happening here. We’re busy, but just with the same things we’ve been busy with for the past year.

This week I started baby-sitting a friend’s little boy. We work the same amount of hours so have opted to do a child-care swap to save us both a bit of cash. Her son is nearly four months old and I got a few strange looks from the public as I was carting around an infant in a carseat and leading my toddler with my free hand. Their age difference is such that, if he were my son, I would have had to gotten pregnant the day I came home from the hospital with Avelyn. NOT LIKELY. Her boy is very calm and mellow and generally happy, plus he’s immobile which is amazing. I can set him down on his play mat and walk to the next room and not have to worry that he’s fishing banana peels from the garbage or sticking his finger in an electrical socket. I miss that.

In case you haven’t heard, BlogHer ’08 is going to be held in San Fransisco! This is good news since I’ll be able to secure a moderately priced flight and also I’ll get to meet the legendary Simon and Leah. Angella and I are going to be roomies and I’m sure I’ll be thankful for a familiar face amidst the crowds. I can’t wait!!

On Tuesday I’ll be leaving for Regina to go and visit my mom and pop and see some dear friends in my homeland. Wish me luck on a flight with a very squirmy and somewhat spirited toddler.

Now that’s what you call a random and misguided update!

  • Can’t wait to see you!!

  • Love the picture! I would have never noticed the “masculinity” had you not pointed it out! And, that hair of hers, is ADORABLE!

  • We’re going to Regina on Tuesday too! Maybe I’ll see you around!

  • The two of you take the greatest pictures together. Adorable as always!

You should see some of the outfits I have put on Charlie lately and our clothes are all clean, I am just too lazy to fold and put them away.

  • Ummmm…I thought we had a pact that we were going to be roomies. YOU YOU YOU trickster! You dash my hopes on the rocks and spit on my heart. Why don’t you just spit lemon juice in my eyes. And you call yourself my soul mate.
San Fran sooooo fun. I actually think that there are decent flights from Wash. DC to San Fran. The hotel price is STEEP!!! Let’s hope Ryan gets that raise. That only gives me 3 months to loose baby weight…oh my oh my!!!!
Well I will have to go to plan B…see what my other “friends” are doing!
    Feel guilty yet…you better.

  • hey amanda?
How long are you in Regina for? Samantha and I would love to see you. We are living in Moose Jaw so it’s not that far away. We are planning on being in Regina on saturday for most of the afternoon.
Let us know if anything works out

  • how is it that you have perfected the art of the “awkward sticking your arm out with the camera turned around, smiling, but not too much, avoiding a double chin and always getting a phenomenal result self-portraits”? can you divulge your secret?
