Avelyn has always been more than a little strong-willed. If she isn’t happy, you know about it. Lately she’s pulled out a new trick: The Underbite.
Where she got this from, I have no idea. But whenever she’s mad or irritated or told what to do, she juts out her bottom jaw and bares her teeth and gives a grumpy little grunt. Steve thinks she’s going to need headgear in a few years.
Please. No.
On the cleaning front, our lousy excuse for a basement is getting all shaped up. A few vanloads of junk to the thrift store and the dump and we’re almost ready for our holiday guests. It always amazes me how easily the unnecessary junk accumulates. But it sure does feel good to GET IT THE HECK OUTTA HERE.

Kids and their attitudes. They’re funny and cute until they’re 6 … then it’s not so cute anymore.
Yes, decluttering is AWESOME!!
Too funny, so who’s strong willed nature is she taking after? I love that photo, you and that cute girlie of yours made me laugh once again!

I LOVE that picture!!! Let’s keep our fingers crossed that no headgear is needed!
I love the underbite! Paige is so strong-willed too! Must be a born-between-July-15-and-19-thing.
As for the junk, I am constantly hauling stuff out of here. And the occassional Happy Meal and accompanying toy add up fast. When I go to get rid of all those… I feel horrible guilt, “I took her there how many times?”
I love her little under bite! It makes me giggle every time :)
Thanks for your sage advice last night on the chocolate sauce – the cookie dough balls are all done…and almost ALL GONE!
:)
Why do we hold on to useless crap? I guess getting rid of it is more work than tossing it in the basement!
You may object to the neck headgear, but I’m not sure you know it’s not the worst opition. I had to wear the complete strap OVER the head plus the neck. Once my cute neighbor came over and I was wearing it. AHHHkkkkk. Oh my. May she have to wear nothing at all!
I was genetically blessed with The Overbite. That is, until I wore braces and retainers and something scary called a t-rex for most of my high school years. Awesome.
(My sister and I used to do this thing where we would tense up and shake our whole body, which involved locking our jaws and making frozen scary faces, just for fun.)
Avelyn’s dress? SO CUTE.
I had an overbite as a kid and it naturally corrected itself.
i think kelly calls that the white girl underbite……or something like that. i love that your little girl has such attitude! she’ll be such a fun adult with LOTS of spunk who knows how to stand up for herself. way to go!
I feel your pain re: accumulating unnecessary junk. I am amazed at the crap I find that I’ve obviously kept because I’ll “need it someday.” There is never “someday.” Be brutal – my trick is if I haven’t used / read / worn / looked at the item in 2 years, it’s gone.
[…] mouth guard. I don’t know about you, but when I hear “mouth guard”, I think like this too. No way no how you’re going to get me to wear anything even remotely close to that. […]
