Little O' This, My Girl

Lolalolalolalolalola!

Avelyn has two new friends.  She spends time with them every afternoon.  Their names are Charlie and Lola.

I was at the grocery store last week and there was a pile of random dvd’s for $1.44 (random price, too) so I fished around to find a few gems.  When you don’t have cable, this becomes your life:  rummaging through discount movies you’ve never heard of in an attempt to find something that will entertain your rambunctious toddler for more than 13 minutes.  I grabbed a copy of a Charlie and Lola dvd and brought it home.  For Avelyn, it was love at first sight.  The music is amazing, the images and bright and textured, the characters are hilarious and I think she just might start talking with a British accent because she watches it so much.  I mean, because she watches it during the strictly regimented 30 minutes of television exposure I grant her each day.   Riiiight.

  • Charlie and Lola were a favorite around here awhile back too. You can always get super cheap Madeline movies too. That’s one of Abby’s favorite passtimes. :)

  • cute

  • This is my all time favorite kids show. I’ve written about them too on my blog. I love their sweet voices, and how kind Charlie always is to Lola, and how the stories always seem to capture children just right.

LOVE. LOVEEEEEEE. Really, I can’t get enough of this show.

(Also, isn’t it great that the voices are real kids voices? makes it 200% better, IMO)

  • I’m pretty sure the creator of this has done books as well! totally cute :)

  • TV is the best babysitter ever.

  • I love Charlie and Lola and I’m way too old to admit it. My cousins love it too. Charlie is such a good big brother too.

  • Hahaha…You’re so funny! Those two look very cute!

  • Ohh! I was wondering if Charlie and Lola would be appropriate for Duncan’s age – I just might pick some DVDs up then!

  • Ah, the good old BBC comes up trumps! Glad to know our British license fees are helping in some small way to soothe rambunctious toddlers across the globe!! (PS sorry about the Teletubbies!)

  • BBC! cartoons. Awesome.

  • Charlie doesn’t seem interested in Charlie and Lola quite yet, but I think it is so cute! We are really into Super Why these days and of course anything Elmo. I thank him on a daily basis for making it possible for me to shower and even eat.

  • i love charlie and lola. and i love it when my daughter picks the books to read at night so i can practice my british accent. i’m a dork, but i think she thinks that’s how you are supposed to read charlie and lola.

  • I saw this show for the first time yesterday! I was completely entranced — I LOVED it. Soooo sweet and funny and creative.
