Domesticity, Life of Leisure (Bah!), Little O' This

I Just Dy(son)ed and Went To Heaven

I just had the most satisfying vacuuming experience of my life thus far.  I went out and bought the Dyson this morning and came home to see if it was going to live up to my expectations.  It didn’t.  It surpassed them.  I LOVE THE POWER.  The suction is phenomenal and after doing a quick run over the carpet upstairs the canister was filled past maximum with musty old dog hair and fine particles of nasty dirt.  We had been living with that grime being pressed against the soles of our feet.  Sick.

It was so satisfying to see all that hair and dirt whirring around the canister; kind of like popping a ripe whitehead that’s been festering on your chin for a week and it loudly sprays all over the bathroom mirror.  Yeah, just like that.

  • You just lived my dream! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing that canister fill up with dirt after just one room and then go over it again and have it fill up again. I don’t like to think about the fact I’ve been living with all that dirt for months.

Congrats on the new vacuum. Be nice to it!

  • Gross. The whitehead analogy may have made me throw up a little bit…but if that’s how disgusting (and satisfying?) you say it was…congratulations?

  • Awesome.

  • So, the whitehead bit made me throw up in my mouth a little bit, but I totally understand. We got a Dyson about 2 years ago. I even vacuumed our living room with our old vacuum and IMMEDIATELY vacuumed with the Dyson and filled up the canister TWICE. Nice job, old crappy vacuum. Two years later, and that baby is still going strong. Good purchase.

  • Your analogies are priceless! Now I want to go and try a Dyson – they sound amazing!

  • I think you captured the feeling perfectly.

  • Wanna vacuum my house next?!!!

  • I am the one who desires a Dyson but can not afford it yet. I will own one, eventually because I have the cat and dog that feel if they do not plaster my house in fur, that it is not their home. GAH

  • That’s so gross!

  • Oooh, I’m so excited for you. Being a ‘vacuum junkie’ I love hearing such success stories. Can I borrow it sometime…I’d like to compare it to my built-in.

  • You already know that we love the Dyson. Well, Matthew loves it. I just admire his mad vacuuming skills.

  • I want one …

  • awesome!

    which one did you get??

  • Ewww… gross analogy, but LOVE the Dyson. Dana and I sometimes go visit our future Dy at Home Outfitters.

  • Nice analogy – as the zip popping kind, I feel the satisfacton! I don’t have a dyson, but my kirby sucks with the best of em:) And…it was free. Can’t beat it, but I do covet the dysons!

  • I LOVE both of those disgusting things as well! So disgustingly wonderful!

  • Dyson rocks. Just to warn you, it gets addicting.

  • I love that. Both things. So satisfying. Hang on to the love of vacuuming!

  • I’m so jealous. I’m an avid vacuum hater like you, and use a 40-year old mother of a beast. I don’t really think it sucks up that much. Your last two Dyson posts are making me think we need to save up for one…probably lots of creepy crawleys in my floor too!

  • I remember when my friend got one and she said it picked up cat hair from a cat she no longer owned. I love love love mine. Love it. I might name a child after it, if I were to have anymore.

  • Congrats!! I’m glad you got the vacuum of your dreams!!

  • I LOVE the satisfaction of vacuuming especially if it ACTUALLY REALLY sucks! Yay for something to make chores fun!

  • I totally need a new vac soon, and I think I’ll have to get a Dyson too. I wonder if they would give you a commission?

  • And oh btw – you have the best blog titles ever. I don’t know if there is a contest but you would sure win it!

  • I loved my Dyson so much when I first got it, I took a picture of the first pile of dirt I collected.

I still love my Dyson, but I’ve stopped photographing what it picks up.

  • sounds like your new vaccum really sucks.

    sorry, couldn’t resist. :P

  • Congratulations on the newest addition to your family. :-)
