My Girl, Wedded Bliss

Days

The weekend was swell.  Busy, but swell.  We are in the middle of apple harvest and the Ambrosia apples were ripe for the picking.  Steve’s sister, Kaile, came down from the coast to lend a familial hand and she got in plenty of time with her favourite niece.

Avelyn has been my ticket to a fall free from apple picking.  She keeps my hands more than full these days but I am happy to cook a hearty meal for my farmer when he comes in at the day’s end.  Yesterday we had a beef stew that had simmered for hours in the slow cooker, homemade pull-apart buns and an oats ‘n’ honey pie.  Pretty much the best meal ever.  Toot, toot!  (That’s the sound of my tooting my own horn, in case you didn’t know.)

Avelyn sported a snazzy new outfit that my mom bought for her a while back and yeah, she’s offically the world’s cutest little girl in her vintage jeans that look like a granny’s chesterfield.  She had a violent poop in these pants a few minutes after the photo was taken.  Just so you know.

Weekends like these ones are just fine by me.  I am loving the amber leaves on the trees, the crisp air, the scent of apple nectar in the orchard, and the way my girl is growing into the sweetest little person I have ever met.

  • I wanna come live at your orchard and pick apples and eat stew and fresh buns…mmmmmmm! My husband’s a bee keeper, but its not quite the same thing.

Harrison has a pair of ‘poop pants’, too. They always seem to ignite the most violent poops.

  • Sounds like a good weekend to meal and a GREAT meal.

Avelyn looks so much like Steve. She’s adorable. :)
