Little O' This

HTMHell

Amanda’s misguided train of thought:  "Avelyn is napping so now would be an opportune time to play around with my blog template.  It’s so cookie cutterish, so dull, so blah.  Here, I’ll just follow Movable Type’s simple tutorial on how to add a banner with a photo. How hard could it be?"

Apparently, quite.

I wrecked my blog and had to fire off a pathetic email to the support desk at Movable Type that read:  "Hi, I am dumb.  I wrecked my blog and was wondering if you could please put it back the way it was.  I miss my cookie cutter.  ‘Kay bye."

The good folks at MT replied with a quick "No Worries" message and assured me things would be back to normal.

I am so lame.

I want to learn how to make my blog better but when I try, bad things happen.  I wish there was someone whom I could spend a few hours with and learn enough to be confident in the basics and be able to play around with things and not mutilate my template in the attempt.

Ahwell.

If there are any lurkers out there who happen to be web-designers who enjoy pro bono charity cases, call me.

(I make a mean cinnamon bun and would be happy to pay you in that doughy currency.)

  • I’m just impressed that you used Movable Type – I use Typepad and find that complicated enough!

  • Try the support forums at MT. The people there are very helpful, and there’s a chance there’s already an answer to all your questions in the archives.

  • I’d be able to help you, Amanda. Email me at design[@]reddirtroad[.]ca and we can converse over email.

  • Blogs are confusing. I almost deleted mine once by accident while trying to fancy it up and haven’t touched any of the complicated stuff since. Good luck.

  • Oops, that was me, proving how incompetent I am when it comes to computers:)
