Family Matters, My Girl

Strawberry Girl

While Steve is snapping photos of the Sydney Opera House with our camera I am left to try to work some magic on my parents’.  It’s an HP which I deduce stands for "Highly Poopy" because it is somewhat lacking the good photo department.  Here are a few of the mediocre snapshots of much more than mediocre moments:

Three generations.  I especially like Avelyn’s jazzy tights.

And remember how she, for so long, had not been interested in solid foods?  Well, overnight she has turned into a hungry, solids-seeking baby who rams anything resembling food into her ravenous pie-hole.  Granted, most of the pureed mush I try to feed her ends up smeared on her chest and ground into her neck folds but at least she’s interested.  My little independant girl refuses to let me feed her though and she’ll only ingest food she’s placed in her mouth of her own free will.  Her spoon control is lacking and she’s had many an eye-full of butternut squash, but it makes for great entertainment (and twice daily baths).

Avelyn much prefers fruits to the vegetables and I suppose she comes by her sweet tooth honestly.
I know everyone is probably wondering how her bowel movements have changed as a result of her new diet.  I will simply pose this question:  how can something as sweet as strawberries become so foul on their journey through the digestive system?  Smelly, sandy, FOREST GREEN, and thickly vile.
I am considering early potty training.  Or at least letting Steve get reacquainted with his daughter through some serious diaper duty upon his return.

  • Looks like you’re having a swell time with your family! And yes, I agree that Steve should spend some quality time with his daughter upon his return…changing those stinky diapers! hehehe

  • ummm… you better not have gotten any butternut squash mush on my bouncy chair.

    kidding.

She is adorable. I just love the first picture of the three of you.

  • Great picture of you three Chicks! We missed you two at Rhyme Time this morning.

  • I think all babies like fruits before vegetables, and who can blame them? It’s definitely another step up on the poop scale. Glad you guys aren’t freezing in Regina!

  • I love the three generations picture. It looks like you’re having a great time in winterland.
Just a little something that you might find useful…I found these “lil dippers” at Walmart. They’re great things for kids that like to feed themselves. They’re easy for the little ones to hang on to and they have slots on either side of the part that they put into their mouth so the food actually sticks to it and makes it into their mouths. The lil’ dipper is made by Gerber.

  • What a big girl! Great shot of the three of you :)

  • I love your Mom’s smile! It’s all that yummy food at Grandma’s that’s charging Avleyn up! We’ll be needing a high chair now. Glad you’re having fun; who doesn’t like to get spoiled? Miss you girls, say hi to your fam.
    xxxx

  • Those are priceless pics. You and Avelyn look good with any camera. Miss you and have tons of fun. Hug Jen for me.

  • So glad to see that things are going well. We are in love with Rolo. Can we keep him? Miss you both- so does Rolo (although he did tell us he wants to stay with us FOREVER).

  • Awww, I remember those days! She is just too cute for words!

My son was obsessed with peas. I would gag everytime I opened the can or his diaper. *ugh*

  • Your little girl so growing up so fast, so is too cute.

  • Now that’s a picture that is too cute for words. A keeper for sure – to bribe her with when she wants to date boys.

  • I used to give Megan a spoon and as she would open her mouth to put it in i would sneak in a spoonful of my own. It’s a bit tricky but it gets more food in them than on them!

    Miss you!!

  • Those are some pretty stellar tights, indeed. : )
