Angella’s husband is a master craftsman and has single-handedly built nearly every cabinet, armoire, piece of wood flooring and wainscotting in their home. He even builds stairs!
Which he shelacks with a very slippery varnish upon completion.
I had an encounter with those slippery stairs this morning.
And now I think I need one of thos butt donuts that people with broken tailbones sit on.
I was wearing a pair of extra soft and fuzzy socks today and I tromped up the stairs of Ange’s house to warm up a bottle for Avelyn. My descent back down the steps was not my most graceful. Both feet flew out from under me, my arse hit the steps with a disturbing thud, my arms scraped down the side of the wall that had unfinished wainscotting on it, filling my limbs with slivers and scrapes, and the momentum of the fall sent my bum bopping heavily down each step until I lay crumpled in a heap at their base. Ange and Tianna came running to make sure I was OK. Which, technically, I am. But I am hurting! It’s been a few hours since the fall and my poor tailbone is still a-throbbin’ and I can’t really bend over to pick up my baby.
Maybe once my maternity leave runs out I’ll be able to claim disability?

OUCH!!!
Have a HOT bath tonight.
Oh amanda…that just makes me cringe! Take it easy and make sure you heal completely…a cracked tailbone is so hard to heal. YIKES
Oh my goodness! I hope you are on the mend soon! Maybe you should invest in some of those fluffy socks with grippies on the bottom!!! OR maybe Angela should have a basketful waiting at the front door for guests :) hehehe.
You don’t want a donut cushion, you want a coccyx cushion, with the cutout at the back to relieve pressure from your tailbone (I’ve used one and it works wonders). Hope you feel better soon! :)
I’m SO SORRY!! Matthew feels bad too. I’d offer to kiss it better…but ewwwwww.
;)
I highly recommend those socks with the little grips on the bottoms. They’re life savers!
If you need a butt pillow, i’m sure i can find one for you from the geriatric ward *snicker snicker*
No, but seriously, i probably could.
I know how you feel. I bruised my tailbone once while sledding. (A tree stump went through the saucer right into my tailbone)It took a couple weeks of sitting on my jacket rolled into a donut, but it healed nicely.
Is it makes you feel any better, I can be relied upon to fly ass over teakettle on non-slippery surfaces.
Does Avelyn have one of those baby-walker things? Maybe you can just scoot around in one of those? ;p
I found your site from Christy’s site. Anyway, I thought I’d offer a suggestion: a boppy pillow. I had one for nursing and while I didn’t really ever use it for that, it made a great cushion to sit on after my very large baby was born and my tailbone really hurt.
O to the uch!
I hope your booty is recouperating well with minimal bruising.
