My bum is still KILLING ME, and not softly. Well, I guess kind of softly, since my bum is always soft, but I am in some serious discomfort here, folks. I went to the doctor and her assessment (pun intended) was that my ailing coccyx could take anywhere from three weeks to…three months to heal. Jeepers. The advil has been taking the edge off and a friend of ours lent me a special tailbone pillow which I carry with me at all times. I took it to Starbucks last night and got a few puzzled looks, but I can deal with public scorn if it means my bum has the cushioning it needs.
Today I went to Fabricland, brimming with inspiration. I have decided to take up the sewing cause once again, this time enlisting the help of some seasoned veterans to show me the ropes. I really do want to sew some half-decent curtains for our pad (I hate that word) and jazz the place up. After nearly an hour of wandering the fabric store, gently caressing bolts of material, trying to make it look like I knew what I was doing, I saw a sale rack of ready-made curtains on sale for 50% off. So I bought some of those. It works out to be waaay cheaper than buying the fabric at the per-meter price, plus I don’t have to do any work! I know that sounds like a cop-out, but there really wasn’t fabric there today that tickled my fancy enough to spend six hours remembering how to thread my sewing machine for.
I also bought some seeds for my garden. This is a monumental development, as I have never shown an interest in working the land before. I bought carrots, corn, peppers, green onions and many herbs, including: thyme, cilantro, basil and oregano. I really want to start cooking with fresh herbs, so I am going to give it a go. There’s a good chance this endeavor will end up like the Hydrangea Disaster of ’04 wherein my sweet mother-in-law bought me two blue hydrangea bushes (my favourite flowers!) in the hopes I would take to gardening. I diligently watered those babies every day for the first month. Then I forgot to water them for a week; though they were quite dry, they recovered in time. Then I started watering them only once a week, since I knew they would survive the lapse. One week turned into two, and I was able to revive them. They grew accustomed to their bi-monthly drinks. Then I weaned them to month between waterings and they died and never came back.
I suck.
Today is Rolo’s third birthday!

Sorry to hear about your broken bum. I hope it feels better soon.
Happy Birthday Rolo!!! I’m not even going to comment on the shirt.
Hope your butt feels better, Amanda (that felt weird saying that, but whatever, you have to carry around a special pillow to sit on).
Happy Birthday Rolo!!!!
Sorry your tuch hurts. Here’s to a speedy recovery. :)
I”M STILL SORRY! :)
At least the pillow is stylish – I didn’t even notice it this morning until you pointed it out :)
Happy Birthday RoloDog!
What is it about having a baby that makes us want to run out and start gardening? I’ve been scouring Amazon for the perfect guide to starting my own little container garden. I know I’m going to kill it, but at least it will serve as a decent hobby for a few weeks.
Side note: I didn’t kill our hydrangeas but that’s only because it rained a lot last year.
Happy Birthday to Rolo!
OUCH! That is too bad… I hope you heal super quick : )
Hi Amanda,
I had a tobogganing incident and hurt my tailbone. I couldn’t sit for days. It took a couple months before I felt normal again. Then I had an incident very similar to yours and re-injured it, however, the pain from my sprained ankle helped distract from the tailbone pain. Hope you are feeling better soon :)
Rolo looks hot. :)
Shall I tell you that my daughter’s tailbone took about 7 months to heal? Or that when she fell it ended up so screwed up her hips and her lower back as well so it took about 8 trips to the chiropractor?
No?
Ok… forget I just said all that.
LOL.
