Domesticity, Family Matters

The Here and Now

A rare family shot. Yes, all three of the children’s pairs of eyes are glued to the TV as they watch the Canucks get creamed (BOSTON creamed, pie that is..see what I did there?) in game six of the Stanley Cup finals. My mom has been in town for a couple days and we’ve been up to our usual tricks: ordering pizza, going out for coffee and shopping. We are a simple people.

With my real estate course out of the way, and a summer off to enjoy the family before I go back to work, I find myself really savouring the days at home with the kids. Sure, there are still plenty of frothing tantrums and tireless time-outs and potty training efforts gone horribly wrong, but it feels so good to have more energy and patience to deal with it all and to not feel so stressed out that I can’t enjoy the good, you know?

I have been cooking again, making homemade applesauce muffins, taco pizza, butter chicken, pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese icing. And I have been keeping up with boot camp so I can actually eat my cooking without having to bust out the fat pants.

With Father’s Day nearing, I did a tribute to my own dear Pops. You can take a look over here to see why my dad is rad.

And now, I am going to bed.
