Little O' This, Pregnancy

A Polish Pedi

So, the pedicure was divine.  The delightful European technician simultaneously talked my ear off and worked her magic on my bedraggled tootsies. My heels are now smooth, my toe nails straight and scarlett.  I squirmed a few times when she brought out this little scrapey tool that shaved off the dry patches of skin (how’s that for a visual?) but aside from that it was a relaxing experience.  In her thick accent she told me tales of her life in Poland, what it was like to live under the communist regime, and also how she is unable to have children.  I liked her a lot and she seemed to enjoy the fact that I was a captive listener, seated on her big beauty chair with my toes in the air.

After an hour and a half of pampering I came home and had supper on the deck swing with Steve and Rolo.  Yes, Rolo loves the swing and likes to gently rock as the sun sets.  What a spoiled, spoiled hound we’ve bred.  Following that I went for an evening walk with said pooch and enjoyed the cool breeze and the way my body finally seems used to the weight of my belly and is allowing me to once again walk for more than four minutes without painful cramps and stitches.  It’s so nice to be a little more mobile again and I have been walking every second day…here’s hoping that will keep the final weight gain tally to a respectable total.

I’m finding it hard to believe that I only have 6 days of work left!  The time has passed quickly and while I have only worked here for two years it feels like much longer than that.  I am ready for a change of pace, though.  I know the thrill of wiping a pooey bum and bouncing a colicky screamer will be waning at times, but I am looking forward to my new calling.  I am going to be a MOM.  For the rest of my life.  I am going to watch my child grow and change and go to school and be a soccer player or a ballerina, or both, and then get married and become a mother herself.

Weird.
