My Girl, Weight

From Both Sides

When I was little my tonsils were chronically plagued with infected chunks of cheese that lurked in the caverns of my gnarled throat.  When Steve was a child he had ear infection after ear infection and ended up in the emergency room on more than one occasion due to the unbearable pain.

In her life thus far, Avelyn has two ear infections and today, after an afternoon of inconsolable shrieking, we discovered she’s experiencing her first round of tonsilitis.

Poor kid, she seems to have inherited both Steve’s and my bodily woes.

I think the most pressing question is: whose bum will she get? She can’t get both my soft, squishy J-Lo bootay and Steve’s buns o’ steel, so I pray that nature will take mercy on her and bless her with her father’s cheeks.

I’d kill to have his butt.  And his thighs.

That sucks.

PS:  I’m STARVING.  Flex points, my arse.

  • Flex points?? um…i don’t understand.

  • Flex points are the 35 extra points of delight that are supposed to help you get through the week with weight watchers; how you can still have your cake and eat it too. Except the cake is made of alfalfa sprouts. :(

  • Poor lamb! I you can end this vicious cycle of ENT infections.

Otherwise… Look at her! She’s looking like a big girl, so pretty! Her eyes looks greenish-blue?

  • Poor kiddo. Hope she feels better soon!

  • Hey Amanda,

My name is Lisa and I am a friend of Christy’s sister Becky!(We went to college together)I just started my own blogspot.com (www.brodieandlisa.blogspot.com) but my banner is terrible – and your’s is soo cool! Who designed yours? How much do they charge? It would be great if you could get back to me! (lisa_0311@hotmail.com). Also, your blogs are always so interesting and funny – you are a very smart and witty writer, I enjoy reading them!

    Thanks Amanda

  • Poor Avelyn…Hope she feels better really soon and that those nasty infections stay away. I’m sure you must be gaining extra flex points while rocking/bouncing Avelyn when she’s crying! The picture is adorable as usual!

  • Poor little chiquita.

Do they still remove tonsils these days like they did when we were little? I don’t think any of my friends had tonsils. Seriously, what are they good for anyways?

  • Poor Avelyn – my friend’s 18 month old (who’s already had tubes in his hears for cronic ear infections) is now plagued with severe tonsilitis – they may take them out in the next few months. I’ve heard all of her awful stories of trying to comfort him. It can’t be fun.

On a side note – where did you get that dress? I’m searching for an all-white sundress for Maggie for an extended family photograph next month. I can’t beleive how hard it is to find an all-white dress!

  • Poor baby girl! She still looks cute! If she has the sense of humour the two of you have she’s going to be a RIOT!

    :)

  • Geez, what a first year for Avelyn…double dose of pain! When I look at the genetic funk on both sides of our family I cringe to think what Chloe could possibly be plagued with. Isn’t genetics a bitch? You just can’t control anything. I pray she gets over the tonsil funk ASAP, that is so painful. I hear you on the butt legs things. So far she is so tall that she doesn’t remotely take after me. Ryan is 6’6″ with the most amazing shaped legs I have ever seen. So I am rooting for Ryan’s legs on Chloe and not my stumps I call legs.

  • Awww….poor Avelyn. I hope she gets better soon and morphs into a super-hybrid of yours and Steve’s genetics!

  • oh man, counting points sucks moose balls! Seriously. I like cheese too much.

Wouldn’t it be fun if we lived in a world where we embraced our curves and squishiness and felt stunningly gorgeous at whatever weight we were? Wouldn’t it be fabulous if we just loved ourselves in all conditions? Man, I would pay very large sums of cash to be teleported to that world. I bet they eat cheesecake for breakfast there!

    Flex points be damned!

  • She’s so sweet. You should do a post on why she’s blessed with both of your genetics… there are many more reasons, I’m sure. Your little girl looks so grown up in this picture, what a cutie!

  • poor little sweetie.

  • My poor baby(BOTH OF YOU)!Hope she feels better soon.

  • Ah, genetics. I’m planning on not having any children because I think my excessively-long toes need to make their way out of the gene pool.

P.S. I know that you have recently been using the alias “Blog.” You’re a doll.
