I’ve been up since 4:45 am and have already toted a howling baby through the grocery store, booted my dog down the stairs when his barking woke up my fitfully napping child, and been peed on by my kid while she was sitting bare-bummed on my lap as I was just setting out a fresh diaper to put her in.
It’s only 10:30 and I feel like I’ve worked a full day in an anvil factory.
You’ve all heard of Baby Legs, right? The trendy little leggins that are all the rage? Well, I made some this morning out of a pair of little girl’s knee socks. And when I say “made” I mean I skillfully cut the foot part off with kitchen shears.
If I were really ambitious I’d sew the frayed bottoms up, but I think we all know that’s not going to happen. My sewing machine and I still aren’t on speaking terms.

I am very impressed! They are really cute! Why did you own them in the first place? Were they for Avelyn in a few years? or did you used to wear them? or did you buy them to make baby legs? Regardless, they are ultra sweet!
SO cute! I’m not on speaking terms with my machine either…but I may have to copy you :)
Oh my goodness, so so cute. I have a hard enough time keeping up with what’s in style in adult clothes, let alone baby clothes. Feel totally free to pass along your creativity in the little boys department too k? ;-)
loving the homemade Babylegs…very cute!
Those are ingeniously cute!
Great idea Amanda! They are adorable. I’d wear ’em.
LOL!! I love it! She is so adorable.
Adorable…Both her and the leggings!
yeah…that’s just odd. Baby fashion is a mystery to me.
Frugal and fun–I love it.
They look just as cute! :) Good thinking…
So great! If you don’t want to talk to your sewing machine you can buy iron on hem stuff. It’s just a thin ribbon that you fold the fabric over and iron. It gets hot and sticks, (ala hemming IKEA curtains). But I think the frayed bottoms are stylish, babies like to chew on string.
Hi Amanda,
Seriously, when we’re all honest, who really is on speaking terms with the sewing machine. We all like to own one and fantasize about sewing things like our mamas did but…really…
I’ve heard about your blog forever and somehow stumbled across it from one of my friend’s blogs. Small world! nice to meet you here! And…i love the creative leggings!!
Love! Love! Love! I’ve seen this idea on another site and have been meaning to try it for Maggie. That photo of Avelyn with nothin’ but her “hobo” baby legs on just sent me over the edge! We’re off to by some cheap-o knee-highs this afternoon :)
oh my goodness that pose! the way her leg is propped in the first photo. love it. and love the homemade baby legs. so cute!
SOOOOOO cute! Very ingenious.
I like where you are going with this….MUCH cheaper than actually buyin baby legs…I am going to shamelessly steal this and not give you credit! That is just the kind of friend I am. So you pumped out some serious posts while I have been laid up…geez louise, I gotta catch up.
HAHA! I love it; she looks adorable in them!
I’m totally copying you. Sooo cute. (Any ideas of quick and easy Robeez? The off brand ones are often just not as cute…) Anyway, my sewing machine only speaks to my husband, and I’m not even lying. It’s true, he takes care of our sewing needs in this house! =)
(PS. I’ve been reading you for awhile, but haven’t commented much- at all?- so Hi! Like your blog!)
