Little O' This

Things that are cool:

Grandmas who drive up from the coast to baby-sit for a week while I work full-time. (Thanks, Sylvia! We really appreciate all your help!)

I painted a picture for Avelyn’s room. It’s of a cupcake and I think it’s cute and she always points at it and smiles when she sees it.

People who phone the office and say, “I’m just headed to the coffee shop before I pop by your office. Can I buy you a drink?” Yes. Yes, you can!

Avelyn is walking everywhere now. She still looks like a cross between Frankenstein and someone who’se ridden a horse for a week straight. But it’s awfully amazing and adorable.

Flight of the Conchords. Steve and I love that show and you should too. Check it here.

My brother is coming for a visit this weekend! Yay! I’m going to let him buy me a belated birthday present. A big one.

Things that are kind of lame:

The crippling hunger I’ve felt all week since getting back on the Weight Watchers plan. I was a naughty, naughty birthday girl last week who decided that counting points was for sissies. Let’s just say that there were potato skins, bellinis, quesadillas, cookies, panini sandwiches and brownies involved (not all in one sitting, but wow, did it ever add up). This week has felt like my first on the program…I’ve been ravenous and grumpaaay. It feels good, at the same time, to know I’m back on track. Still, I wish I could eat a dozen cookies for dinner and still lose weight. Is that too much to ask?

Working full-time. Remember how when I first started the full-time stint I was all, “This is AWESOME!”? Well, while I’ve enjoyed being a part of the staff team again and working more in the office I am pretty tuckered out by it all. Yep, I’m weak and am looking forward to going back to just working on Mondays.

My vacuum is kind of broken. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I think we need a new one but there’s a problem: we’re broke. And even if we had money I wouldn’t like to spend it on a vacuum; I’d prefer to buy a new fall wardrobe.

Steve has been working on the cabin every night until 1 am. I haven’t seen him in far too long.

  • your posts are never lame amanda! or… maybe when they are kind-da lame you make them un-lame by jazzing em’ up with humour. Thats why we love you.
    happy hungry work days! :)

  • Not Lame.
    Have a good day!

  • Your posts always brighten my day. Yes, you can eat cookies all day. Or at least if you save up enough points. I put a recipe on my blog for WW cookies. I love them!!!

  • I love your posts! Not lame at all. But all that talk of food made me hungry…

  • Your posts are NEVER lame, Amanda!

  • nothing is better then some “business time”….!

  • Hey, we have so much in common. My bro is coming to visit this weekend, Mark is always at work and my vacuum is broken too!

  • I know what you mean about the Weight WAtchers thing….the hardest part is at the first or when you restart. I hate feeling hungry like that!!!

  • I hope that the things that are lame all start to look up for you.

  • I hear you about WW… when you fall off for a weekend (longish weekend for me), it’s haaard to get back on. Also, I hear you again about being broke. If we had money, I wouldn’t want to pay for new brakes. I’d want to buy cute fall boots.

  • not lame. nothing is ever lame when there is a cupcake painting involved.

  • I’m with you on the wishing you could eat cookies for dinner and lose weight. Oh if it were possible …

  • Ditto to everyone above. You couldn’t be lame if you tried. Love you!

  • I love that happy cute painting so much that I want to eat it.

  • You are not lame at all! I think I am lame all the time, but I just put up pics of my pregnant monkeys, which is NOT lame!! YAY!

By the way, you know you are hungry when you are painting cupcakes!!! LOL But hey, if you can’t eat em, paint em! I love it! :)

  • Now lame, is definately not a word I would use to describe your writing! Love the little cupcake picture!

  • I want a new bag, but we really need hedge clippers, so I spent over two hours the other day cutting the hedge with garden shears. But a vacuum is harder to improvise…

  • I was hoping you’d put up the cupcake painting. Very cute. Did it fulfill your need to create?

  • That’s a great picture! Looks like something you would see on the cool mom’s picks website.

  • I lost 12 postpartum lbs. (7 more to go!) on WW this summer and find myself taking a break from the Points. I’ll probably gain a pound or two, but it really is hard to be hungry ALL the time. When I get back on the program, proper, I enjoy that enpty feeling, but when I reenter the eating world, WW is a distant memory. Ahh–my break is over tomorrow, so final postpartum pounds: look out!

  • I couldn’t get past the part where the cupcake was. I pointed and smiled too. Great job. Now what are we teaching Avelyn by hanging this delectable creature in her bedroom? You are about as opposite of lame as they come. You are cool on crack my dear!
